Friday, June 10
which is a rarity.
and thus i cld attend YF today.
i somehow felt that i was transported back to last times.
it felt so right.
the familiar faces, the songs, the laughters, the people.
Nicholas's sharing was inspiring.
he told us of this personal account,
and how we should praise the Lord in times of both sadness&happiness.
we should never forsake him, cus he will never ever forsake us.
preparing of the song item for Youth Sunday
also reminded me of the times where we were preparing for last year's youth sunday.
and how i used to be so fervert about church,
how excited i was to go to church every Sunday.
and how we would all meet up Every Day to study for our Os.
the times we spent everyday discussing about the year end youth camp.
and somehow,
there was this sick feeling in my heart.
cus i realised that slowly, i've drawn away from church.
everything that used to be No.1 on the list was slowly but evidenly, being replaced.
i no longer spend as much time in church.
i no longer meet them everyday,
we no longer have late night conferences.
sometimes i even skip church cus of tired trng the previous day.
what has happened to me?
i must learn to put my piorities back in place,
draw nearer to the Lord.
serve him, place Him as No1 on the To-Dos.
Excited for Lock-In Night! :D
i'd make it a point to go,
no matter how tired i would be from trng that day.
i wanna go back on track.
even small sam said to me today,
"I havent seen you for so long,
i want to have icecream in your house again."
i wanna make things right again.
and i'm neglecting my friends too. ):
i miss limin&jing. cheryl&enmin. sookteng&jasmine.
shi&hc&swei. og15. etc.
i'm really very sorry okay people.
cus everytime they ask me out,
i'd not be able to make it cus of trng.
i promise i'd make time for everyone,
someday, sometime.
and Huibing's leaving for Aust, (miss og15)
so is Jasmine (my threesome..): )
Shuwei's leaving for America. (peanut)
):
everyone's leaving.
and i'm damn afraid that,
cus i'm caught up with studies&trng,
i wont even notice that they're gone.
really miss everyone
and all the times we had tgt.
its like,
an incomplete jigsaw.
on a happier note,
Dragonboating Comp tmr! :D
pioneer race for the j1 dboaters,
so excited for all them.
AWAS GO! :D :D :D
will be down there supporting each and everyone.
its TEAM SPIRIT!
mentis opprimo materia (:
those 3 days were highly enriching, at the expense of skipping Two trainings.
it really opened my eyes to wider prospects and allowed me to see things in a different light.
for me, it was value-added both physically&mentally.
the first full day lecture by High Achievers was really REALLY Good.
forgive my defiency of vocabulary but Good is just an understatement.
the games, the talk. spell binding (:
somehow, it all makes sense; like nutella on my bread (:
something we learnt was to support and be supported.
from the Vertical Limit game where everyone's supposed to sit on another person,
and that Soliquin(rather big size guy) sat on Sean Chua (small canoeist guy) and was supported by Germaine (rather small sized canoeist), i learnt that it doesnt take a Superman to do the impossible.
the little actions from other team mates do help, however little or big it is. (:
Leadership is not the private reserve of a few charismatic man&woman,
it is a process ordinary people use when they are bringing out the best for themselves and others.
Day Two was Fun too (:
Team HOIHOI was really something to be proud of.
we were first in the Sea Rafting (yay!)
and the 15km++ trek @ Pulau Ubin made me realise alot of things.
it was more than just completing the trek in the allocated timings,
it was the process, the journey we all went through.
it wasnt an easy feat to complete it as a team.
team HOIHOI was made up of me&sean wong (canoeist), daryl (xcountry), tyla&jacq (astronomy), alicia&johnathan (band), rachel (art club).
there were peaks and of course downs in our group.
at times during the walk, it would all get silent.
some were able to undertake this challenge, some were not-so-fit.
there were times where tension rose even out of good will.
A: Go On B! you can do it!
B: Can you stop irritating me?
A: B, are you okay?
B: Cant you stop asking?
carrying the 3kg ball for 15km was no easy feat.
and i pity sean for the 5kg ball. Haha.
but through it all,
with varying fitness levels, we perservered.
we perservered, and we completed it (:
so damn proud of them.
and thanks to Mr Hoi too.
for whenever we were down in spirits,
he would walk faster, to motivate us to keep on going.
he told us how we had already come so far,
and we shldnt give up.
and to Ms Wong too, for always there, behind us.
though she didnt say much, she was part of us (:
through this 15km trek,
i learnt that Perserverance and Team work is very important.
A team is only as strong as its weakest link.
and we should understand and empatise with each and every member.
everyone is unique and special.
for example, encouragements do not work for 2% of people.
instead of spurring them on, it brings them down instead.
as such, we shld understand the personality of every teammate.
(:
Thanks to Byron too.
who was our Odac Ubin Facil (:
who also said i was manly. Hmph.
he was encouraging and said stuff which i thought was true.
an instance was when Alicia was supposed to lead us to the next destination,
and she cldnt interpret the map well,
and was confused at the crossroads, admidst suggestions from others.
and he said, "You're the leader, you make the decision"
Day 3 was much of a wrap up and all (:
did a test, and i was an Implementor.
Haha.
we had our testimonials and yada yada.
had the last meal, Buffet! :D
Thanks also to Anne&Charles,
our j2 facils.
the debriefs were thought provoking.
and the lame jokes were, lame.
spending 3 days with us though they cld be doing smth else,
is really very much appreciated (:
this entry is only a trinklet of whatever that happened.
many many other things were learnt too,
and its impossible to type it all out.
i shall end with Monster Lim's Quotes.
